Amethyst donut

Amethyst is a unique purple mineral falling into the quartz category. The stone has been valued since ancient times and it is widely used in decorations and jewellery. Its characteristic colour is caused by ionizing radiation on a small admixture of iron compounds in the stone's structure. Amethyst occurs in basalts, where it forms extensive crystal infill of cavities. The richest deposits of this mineral are in Brazil.
