Amethyst
Amethyst is a purple mineral and one of the most popular, widely known gemstones. Interestingly, using various methods, we may get the stone in other colours too. Yellow-orange shaded amethyst, sold as citrine, results from fire treatment, while green amethyst, sold as prasiolite, is influenced by irradiation. Amethyst is widely deposited all over the world, but the Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil is still one of the most important sites.
If we look at its chemical structure, amethyst is a variety of quartz.
