Coral Sponge
Red sponge coral belongs to a group of marine corals from Cnidaria phylum. It has a firm, calcic skeleton, which is made up of needle-like spicules. The skeleton part of corals has been used in jewellery since ancient times. Red sponge coral is formed by tiny fractions of a white porous coral, which is pressed into a compact matter and dyed with a red colour.
