It has marvellous red dots, which are a result of hematite admixture with other ferric compounds. Pieces without the red dots are sorted out and considered as jaspers.
Heliotrope uniqueness: Heliotrope from India is distinctive for its green foundation and impressive red dots, which can be 1 to 3 mm big. This heliotrope is sometimes called the blood stone – for the red dots referring to the drops of Christ’s blood.
