Obsidian Black
Obsidian, or volcanic glass, is a material with a unique formation, during which hot lava cools rapidly, e.g. in water or on the Earth’s surface. The process is so fast that the individual minerals do not have enough time to crystalize. This piece is from Mexico.
Stone´s uniqueness: Black obsidian forms rounded pebbles of volcanic glass, which are “trapped” inside its soft, glassy perlite parent rock. You can recognise it for its intense black colour.
Special conditions/ treatment: Obsidian is stable against most acids. However, be careful when handling with the stone, as it is fragile.
About the product: The product is packed in firm plastic bags.
